Albany County Legislator Mark Grimm

"He Looks Out for Us!"

Mandated Sick Leave Would Hurt Businesses

The Albany County Legislature has a proposed law that would impose a significant mandate on all private and nonprofit employers in the county. View proposal here by going to page 53 of agenda.

It would require employers with 10 or more employees to provide nine days of sick time a year, and any unused time would roll over each year. Smaller companies also face a similar mandate.

The Capital Region Chamber of Commerce believes the law, if enacted, "would stilfe the county economy, job creation would decline and Albany County businesses would be put at a competitive disadvantage."
